Untitled Online literature and less-developed countries (LDCs) . Coming from another country myself, I experienced first hand how difficult to get hold of books -- either through bookstores or libraries -- that we take for granted here in the United States or other Western countries. On top of this, other countries also have to deal with the same issues already discussed in the previous section -- Untitled Potential value of online literature resources .

The issue of access to works of literature therefore is even more pressing in less-developed countries (LDCs) than it is in Western countries, like the United States.

Access to the internet is still very costly, or even unavailable, in many parts of the world. However, the rapid developments in internet technology and telecommunications have made the internet the most viable technology choice to make "literature resources" become more universally accessible in the future.

This promise of the internet works both ways. Not only will other countries have greater access to literature resources that have been generally accessible only to people in more developed countries (MDCs), the literature of other countries may become readily available also to a greater number of individuals in Western countries.

We endeavor to participate in making this dream a reality and hope that the effort will foster greater understanding among peoples around the world.
