The ownership of various forms of multimedia today has increasingly become concentrated in the hands of fewer and fewer entities, mostly corporrations that are beholden to no one but to the dictates of their stockholders. What were once the diverse voices of indiviiduals, groups, or organizations -- serving mainly the local community and bringing the world to the people of the community -- now are mere packaged products. Our World Today, as part of the Treasures of the Internet endeavor, is a Quixotic effort to address this disturbing trend in multimedia of today.
