![]() The Nutrition and Metabolism website is a database directory that includes internet links to topics about food, diet, weight control and exercise, foodborne diseases, illnesses and their causative agents, diseases caused by metabolic malfunctions (e.g., diabetes) or aggravated by diet practices (e.g., cardiovascular diseases), as well as nutrition and metabolism related topics like antibiotic resistance, food irradiation, organic farming, genetically manufactured organisms (GMOs), and others related to food production, processsing & technology. Major topics, like "Bacteria, Diseases and Infections", are placed as separate sections (identified in bold red). Because of the serious consequences of these subjects on human nutrition and health, the sources of information will not be comprehensive. Instead, the focus are on links coming from the major biomedical research and educational institutions, and government agencies involved in research and regulation. Special emphasis are given on information databases that are updated regularly1 and from non-commercial sources.
