While White Americans rank second in terms of the actual number of AIDS cases and deaths (see Figures 1 above & 2 ), the ranking changes significantly when the values are normalized relative to the population of the major ethnic groups in the US, using population data from the Untitled US Bureau of Census (see Figure 3 below).

Upon normalization with respect to their ethnic populations, the % AIDS cases among "White Ameriicans" were higher, on a year-to-year basis, than those observed among "Asian-Americans & Pacific Islanders", Native Americans but surpassed by a wide margin by both African-Americans and Hispanics (see Figure 3 below).
