A Nature Story
The various subject categories shown on the left -- topics, issues , animals, people, plants, places and organizations -- are further subdivided so that each page here would be manageable and easier to view. For example, you will find specific links for "butterflies" if you click on the alphabet subsection, "B", (shown above) causing a letter "B" to appear on the left (navigation section); and then click the hyperlink "Animals" under the letter "B" that would appear on the left where the hyperlinked choices "birds", "butterflies", etc. will appear under "Animals".
Note that in the case of "birds", only the generic links that encompass different "birds", or discuss birds in general, will appear under "Birds" under the "Animals" section under the alphabet "B". Links for specific birds, like "cranes", "eagles", "hummingbirds", "raptors", if you click first on the alphabet sections "C", "E", "H", "R", respectively and then click "Animals" under each letter (i.e., "C", "E", "H" or "R") that would appear on the left navigation section.
The above navigation scheme is followed also for the other subsections shown under each letter.
The above navigation scheme was necessary because there are hundreds of millions (if not billions) of microorganisms, insects, and other larger plants and animals. All are part of the fragile Earth ecosystem we live in and many remain unknown to us and may become extinct even before we ever discover them. The environment where these organisms exist and coexist are similarly as varied and complex.
Considering this situation, it is almost next to impossible to present the "subjects" of this website, in a clean and orderly manner. More important, it is almost next to impossible for an individual or even a group of individuals to do this or have the expertise to cover the entire subject matter.
With this humbling realization, we decided to use the expertise of everyone who dealt with specific subject matters present their own perspectives. Thus, we use every mechanism possible, including the photographs and hyperlinked captions presented here, to transport you to other sites that can provide further enlightenment. If you click on the small photos show here, they may even enlarge for better viewing.
The above strategy creates a website that will never be uniform and clean. But it is the compromise we have to take to get everyone participate in this endeavor.
