  • Neutrophil: SFAF
    the most common type of white blood cell. Neutrophils are granulocytes that release chemicals involved in inflammation and are a defense against bacteria, which they ingest and destroy. The normal count for neutrophils is from 3,000 to 7,000; counts below 500 indicate an increased risk of bacterial infection.
  • Neutrophil JAMA
    Also called polymorphonuclear neutrophil (PMN). A white blood cell that plays a central role in defense of a host against infection. Neutrophils engulf and kill foreign microorganisms.
