a type of peripheral neuropathy that involves
damage to multiple nerves of the peripheral nervous system. Demyelinating
polyneuropathy (which involves the destruction of the myelin sheath surrounding
the neurons) and sensory axonal polyneuropathy are common in people with
HIV disease. Symptoms may include weakness and painful tingling or burning
