  • Histamine (H2): SFAF
    a cytokine released by basophils and mast cells in response to exposure to a foreign antigen. Histamine causes blood vessel dilation, decrease blood pressure, mediates allergic reactions and regulates stomach acid production. Drugs used to combat the effects of histamine are called antihistamines (e.g., benadryl, terfenadine).
