  • Cytokine: SFAF
    an intercellular hormone or chemical messenger protein (e.g., interleukin, colony- stimulating factor) released by white blood cells (e.g., macrophages, T-cells). Cytokines facilitate communication among immune system cells and between immune system cells and the rest of the body. Cytokines coordinate several aspects of the immune response including stimulating antibody production, promoting the migration of phagocytes to the site of an infection and activating cytotoxic T-lymphocytes.
